Are you an experienced musician with some Klezmer experience who enjoys learning by ear? We are running a 4-week intensive series in which we will learn, arrange and perform more complex Klezmer repertoire. We welcome instrumentalists (all types of instruments) ages 18+. Participants may utilise these classes for Professional Development.

Who this is for:

• music teachers whose students might be interested in Klezmer

• musicians passionate about expanding musical horizons and connecting with a community of players

• performers of world music who would like to learn new repertoire and build on their Klezmer stylistic playing

• attendees of Thursday MKS classes who are interested in a faster pace

During these classes, Amy and Adam will teach Klezmer repertoire and style, focusing on melody, harmony and rhythm in the aural tradition (no sheet music!). We will also look at Klezmer improvisation, accompaniment and ensemble playing.

• Course Structure: 4 weekly 90-minute classes in a welcoming rehearsal setting in Elsternwick.

Details:

• Pricing: Full term: $130 gen adm/ $110 full-time students and concession;
  One-off weekly sessions: $36 gen adm/ $30 full-time students and concession. Current MKS students attending Thursday classes: $25/20 per class.

• Instruments: Amplified instruments will need to bring their own equipment. There is one piano available.

• Times and Dates: Classes are held 7:30 - 9:00pm on Monday evenings:
